Mercia Digital is a digital news publication based in London, founded in April 2026 by journalist and editor Freddie Harper.
The site covers the full range of news without restriction. UK and world affairs, politics, breaking news, sport, celebrity and entertainment, technology, science, gaming, motoring, and culture all sit under the same roof here. The range is deliberate. News does not sort itself into neat categories, and a publication that only follows one beat will always miss half the picture.
Harper, who grew up in Newcastle and now works from London, founded Mercia Digital because he wanted a publication with no ceiling on what it could cover and no tolerance for the kind of thin, unverified content that fills too much of the internet. He serves as editor-in-chief, makes the final call on editorial decisions, and writes across the site himself. His name is on the publication. That matters to him.
Every story published on Mercia Digital is written from sourced, verified reporting. We do not lift stories wholesale from other outlets and repackage them. We do not publish speculation dressed up as fact. When a story is developing and the full picture is not yet clear, we say that plainly in the copy rather than filling the gaps with guesswork. When we make a factual error, we correct it on the record and note the correction on the original article.
