TreVeyon Henderson became the first player in Patriots franchise history to rush for two 50-yard touchdowns in the same game, carrying New England past Tampa Bay 28-23 at Raymond James Stadium. The rookie’s 147 rushing yards — a career high through ten weeks — powered the Patriots to their seventh consecutive win and sole possession of the AFC East lead at 8-2.

Statistical Milestones
Henderson’s 69-yard fourth-quarter run was the longest by a Patriots ball-carrier since Sedrick Shaw ran for 71 yards at the New York Jets on December 27, 1998, and the longest rushing touchdown since Curtis Martin’s 70-yarder against Chicago on September 21, 1997.
He is the first Patriots player with two 50-yard rushing touchdowns in a single game. The last NFL player to accomplish that in a game was Jonathan Taylor in 2024.
Williams’ 72-yard catch-and-run touchdown on the final play of the first quarter was New England’s longest offensive play of the 2025 season.
Maye’s 54-yard completion to Hollins on third-and-14 in the fourth quarter set up Henderson’s game-sealing score.
Mayfield’s three touchdown passes came with zero interceptions, yet the Buccaneers converted 0-of-1 on fourth down and fell short on a fourth-and-3 stop in the final two minutes with the game still within reach.
New England went 5-0 on the road in 2025, completing a 4-0 sweep of NFC South opponents across the season.
Henderson’s 69-yard run in the final two minutes was the punctuation on New England’s seventh straight win — a run built as much on a rookie running back’s breakaway speed as anything else through the first ten weeks of the 2025 season. Tampa Bay had the ball more, moved it more consistently, and got three touchdown passes from Mayfield, yet the Buccaneers’ 4-0 record in fourth-quarter comeback wins to open the year ended here. When the game required a stop, New England made it. When it required a play, Henderson provided it.

I'm Freddie Harper, and I started Mercia Digital in April 2026 because I thought there was room for a news site that actually covers everything without picking lanes. I'm from Newcastle originally, now based in London. I write across the full range here: world news, UK affairs, politics, sport, celebrity, technology, gaming, motoring, science, and entertainment. If it's news, it goes on the site. If it's on the site, it's been checked.
